Lycian Way #3 - Saklikent and Tlos

More excursions from Fethiye:

We took a bus to the Saklikent Gorge - you can walk around the river quite deep into the gorge. This isn't actually on the Lycian Way.

Cool and peaceful.  I was a bit chicken to tread the cold water, which had shallowly flooded the gorge, so we just sat and read awhile.

Then stopped off at the intersection to Tlos and walked up to the ruins on the hill.

Even better was that some locals are still living in the old city, and hopefully make a good living selling snacks and beverages to the likes of us.  We were relaxing at a cafe overlooking an Ottoman fortress near the ruins enjoying some Turkish coffee and complaining about the long walk down to the main road when I saw a British couple walk over to their car.  We got a ride with them all the way back to Fethiye, where they retired a few years ago.  What a life!  For the first time ever I started to dream about retirement.
